HEY THERE GRAFFITI FOLKS!!!

I wanted to let everyone know that the visual display for STALLGRAFFITI ATX is shapeing up nicely - but we need more contributers....SO - get the word out! Tell your handy-dandy pals who play in paints and whatnot that we are looking for them!!! Same idea: Art work INSPIRED by graffiti found in bathrooms around Austin. Fun, Fun!

Also... The newest addition to the project shall be thus: The sound design for the show will consist of music heard/seen/experienced/grooved to by Austin's own local bands. Yes, yes. Drop those MP3s in my direction musicians. adskola@gmail.com That account is MP3 friendly. Pass the word along... Please. A call will go out soon - but hooray-hoorah for word of mouth!!!

AUDITIONS: It's coming upon that time!! We need to put together the ensemble of artists who will be exploring all these wonderful submissions.

Happy Holidays, everyone... I am VERY excited about the progress of the project within this last month!

UPDATE:
It is looking like there will be an addition to the project. We are working toward adding a visual exibit IN ADDITION TO the stage performance of StallGraffiti ATX. So - those of you who have asked about visual displays - have at...go for it...enjoy...!!!! Those of you who find yourself with a bit of extra time (HA), or those whose talents spread far and wide, feel free to play with the idea of the visual exibit as well. This is all I will say about that - again...I encourage everyone to explore ways to make this project their own....

WHAT IS STALLGRAFFITI ATX?

STALL GRAFFITI ATX is a collabortive project that I have been cooking up over the past couple years. Chick and a Dude Productions, along with many other old and new friends, will be in the process of creating GRAFFITI ATX throughout these next few months. The project will consist of a collection of interesting pieces contributed by local artists - all inspired by local, Austin, bathroom graffiti. Under my direction, these pieces will be explored by an ensemble of actors. These actors, myself, C&D Productions, along with the selected contributers, will shape and mold a staged performace incorperating all the bathroom wisdom we have collected!

Since their official creation, a chick & a dude have produced the original version of Did You Say Love? as part of Frontera Fest Long Fringe 2003, as well as the B. Iden Payne Award winning HIT. (Outstanding Director of a Drama, Melissa Livingston; Outstanding Cast Performance, Ken Bradley, Joel Citty, Shanon Weaver; Outstanding Original Script, Shanon Weaver), the heartwarming original Christmas play, Virginia, and most recently a remounting of the original Did You Say Love, directed by Weaver and starring Livingston. In the summer of 2004, the company opened it’s doors, bringing in new talent and broadening the chick & a dude experience. Our goal is to produce at least one original work per season, as well as bringing those who would generally not have anything to do with theatre into our little world, be it in a technical capacity, artistic capacity, or just in an audience member capacity. We’d like to do our part to keep Austin weird by keeping Austin thinking.

Welcome to STALLGRAFFITI ATX!!!!

Here you will find all the information you should need for your GRAFFITI submission!

Each submission should be:

*Between 2 & 15 min. in length

*Contain directable material (this extends across the board - so, if you are thinking of submitting a movement piece, music, etc., they must be conceived in such a way that will allow for actors to translate your piece to the stage.)
NOTE: I encourage contributers to explore interesting ways of utilizing this
guideline - please don't let it limit the type of piece you wish to
contribute! If you have concerns, contact me...let's see what we can do!

~~~ The cast for this show will consist of a single ensemble: 3 women & 3 men. Please keep this in mind as you create your piece.

* And, of course, each piece should be inspired by bathroom graffiti found here, in the fantastic ciy of Austin, TX.

Included with your submission I will need:

*A picture of your graffiti.

* The location from which, and the date, it was retrieved.

All of this fantastical fun should be in my hands no later than January 31st.
